Since Remembrance Day was on a Friday this year, we took a poll the following Monday of what each student did to honour the soldiers on Remembrance Day. I was surprised that no one went to the Wheat Kings game that night. Each student was encouraged to respectfully dispose of his/her poppy or collect the poppies from family members or each year to make a display. A couple students were absent when we did this graph.
Throughout October, we had a few Skype calls with Mrs. Obach's Grade 1's in Hamiota and Mrs. Caldwell's Kinders in Oak Lake to compare our communities. I really enjoyed this experience and I couldn't imagine doing this without technology to teach the students how the size of a community is related to the number of features present. The picture below was taken by Mrs. Caldwell during one of our Skype calls and was posted on Twitter after. :)
